WHO IS THE CHURCH ?
1-Definition;
The word church is derived from the Greek work Ekklesia which is from a compound of Ek(ex0 a primary preposition denoting origin,from,out and a derivative of Kaleo: akin to the base of Keleuo;to”call’(properly aloud,but used in a variety ofapplications,derivatives or otherwise);-bid,call(forth)
Ekklesia;a calling out i.e (concretely)a popular meeting,especially a religious congregation (Jewish synaguogue,or a Christian community of members on earth or saint in heaven or both);-Assembly,church
The church is therefore an assembly of people call out from the masses with a specific purpose and for a common cause.
2-Origin;
The church had never been a idea of man but in all ramification is the idea of God(Elohim) the creator of heaven and earth.After establishing heaven in all its splendor,the Loving God deemed it fit to establish a world in which He will extend His Majesty and Glory For His own pleasure (Rev 4:11).God had never intended a world without His Majestic Love lavished on His creatures,for this reason He framed a being sharing His image and likeness,beautified with His own glory assign to rule,reign and have dominion over the work of His hands(Ps 8:4-5)
This has been and will ever be the eternal purposes of God for mankind.But when man fell out of grace and come short of His glory through the influence of satan and the instrumentality of sin,we all went into captivity of bondage and become subjects to a life of poverty,pain and penury.Living a life without God and His Holy Spirit,stripped naked of all His goodness,grace,and glory.Molested by the devil to and fro,given to all type of unruly behavior,uncleanliness through the lust of their own heart ,to dishonor their bodies between themselves and have changed the truth of God into a lie,and worshipped the creature than to served the creator (Rom !:24-25).
In all these,the world become under the custody of satan and his lying spirits ruling over men.(Eph 2:2,1Jn 5:19).The record of God for mankind was therefore sealed,your destiny and mine locked up and the duplicate of this record in the hand of the devil had accusing inscriptions and ordinances condemning us before God.In all these God’s love prevailed towards us and the handwriting was blotted out and the sealed on the book of destiny break opened by the glorious atoning power of the blood of JESUS(Col 2:14-15,Rev5:9)
3-Spiritual Initiation;
The initiation of the church is first of all spiritual then culminates to the physical by the dutiful discipline of our heart to maintain a life of faith in the love of God and for His son Jesus Christ.God is the initiator of the church reason being that His will most prevail against all else.The will of God is nothing else but His active volution to fulfil the counsel of His eternal purpose.Since the earth has been cunningly hijacked from man by the devil’s devices,God reinstated His reign on earth by first of all disarming principalities,powers,thrones and dominions,making a public show of them all triumphing over them all(Col 2:15).Loosing the hold of the devil over the spirit and souls of men through the power in the name of Jesus by the leadership of the Holy Spirit(Phil 2:10-11)
4-Building the church;
The foundation of the church is based on the Lordship of our Savior Jesus Christ.Read this Matt 16:15-18
He saith unto them,but whom say ye thah I am?And Simon Peter answered and said”Thou art the Christ,the son of the living God"And Jesus answered and said unto him,blessed art thou Simon Bar jona;for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thewe,but My Father which is in heaven.AndI say also unto thee thou art Peter and upon this rock(Jesus the son of the Living God)will I build my church(call out-Ekklesia) and the gates of hell shallnot prevail.
If you are washed by the blood of Jesus,redeemed,justified and sanctified,above all with faith based on the Lordship of Jesus Christ,you are part of the church.Remember God is building you by the power of the Holy Sprit and you are sealed for the day of redemption,ALLELUIA.If you are not sure then accept Jesus as your Lord and savior and thenjoin a Bible believing Church where the Word of God is preached in truth and God is worship in Spirit.
5-The Purpose of the Church:
-Make nations disciples of Christ (Matt 28:18-19)
-Preach the word in and out of season (2Tim 4:2)
-Upholding the Unity of the faith (Eph 4:3,11-13)
-Praying and the breaking of bread (Acts 2:46-47)
